This book follows the story of Clay Jannon after he has lost his job in the tech industry. He finds work in the bookshop run by Mr. Penumbra, and as he learns more about the shop, he becomes more and more interested in unraveling the mysteries surrounding the store and the store’s clientele. With the help of friends, including a new friend named Kat Potente, as well as old friends and current roommates, Clay begins to discover the truth behind the bookshop, and he realizes that there is so much more to the bookshop than he had ever imagined.

I read this book several years ago now, and even though it has been awhile since I read it in full, the particulars of the story have stuck with me all this time. Robin Sloan has created an intricate masterpiece of literary adventure. If you haven’t read this book yet, you need it in your life immediately.
