Bonterra Sauvignon Blanc - Wine Review

Bonterra Sauvignon Blanc - Wine Review

Since I tasted the Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon which I reviewed a little bit ago, I was very excited to try more from Bonterra Organic Vineyards, so when I saw this 2018 Sauvignon Blanc, I knew I had to give it a go. Sauvignon Blanc isn’t something that I have chosen for myself before, so I was slightly apprehensive, but since it’s from Bonterra I knew it had to be good, so I took a chance, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find a wine that was at once comfortably familiar and brand new.

This wine has a comfortingly soft honey yellow hue, and moderate, ranging to solid legs. The scent is quite intense, with a touch of melon, and an overwhelming sense of blackcurrant bud, or, as you may have heard it if you enjoy tasting and reviewing Sauvignon Blanc, cat’s pee. While it may seem crass to describe a wine as smelling of cat pee, it is a term that gets right down to the point of how poignant Sauvignon Blanc smells. Overall, this wine has a very bright scent, which leads into a pleasantly tangy and refreshing flavor. This wine is at once smooth and tart, and the tingles it brings linger on the tongue long after the tasting is done.

Before trying this wine, I was rather hesitant about Sauvignon Blanc, but after tasting another knock-out wine from Bonterra, I am happy to say that Sauvignon Blanc is now on my list of wines I love, and for this one in particular, I recommend trying it out as soon as you get the chance.
