Sleeping Murder - Book Review
In terms of genres, I find detective stories to be, if written well, exceptionally enjoyable. Of all the great detective writers Agatha Christie is one of my favorites, from ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ to ‘The Mysterious Affair at Styles’, all of her novels and short stories are full of intrigue, comedy, and a certain level of peace. I struggled to pick a favorite, since all of her works are so delightful, so for this review, I decided to focus on the one that I read most recently, which is ‘Sleeping Murder’.
‘Sleeping Murder’ features the brilliant Miss Marple as she helps a pair of newlyweds, Gwenda and Giles Reed, as they attempt to discover the truth behind an old murder which they learn about when they move into a new home together. Gwenda and Giles sift through the past and present to uncover the truth, with Miss Marple guiding them along the way.
‘Sleeping Murder’ is the perfect combination of chilling and charming, it showcases the writing skills of Agatha Christie in a way that could draw anyone into the world that she created between the pages.
