Francis Coppola Pinot Noir - Wine Review Blurb

As I was walking through the aisles of the wine shop I spotted this 2017 Pinot Noir from the Francis Coppola Diamond Collection and thought that it must be a match made just for me, since Pinot Noir is my favorite type of wine and I’ve never met a Francis Coppola wine that I didn’t like. This wine is a dark, muted red, but still quite cheerful in color. It has immediate legs, with no swirling needed. The scent is refined, but it hints at a certain tartness often present in a good Pinot Noir. The taste was quite flavorful, almost like a cross between a Cab and a Pinot, and it left a pleasant, somewhat tannic feel behind.

This Pinot Noir reminded me, as I am so often reminded with Pinot Noir, that the quality of diversity which I appreciate so much with Pinot as a whole category, is equally present in every bottle from every maker. I am yet to find two bottles of Pinot Noir which are too similar, and I love that although I know I will always be satisfied with a good Pinot, I will still always be in for a surprise.
