The Romantic Poets - Poetry Collection Review
‘The Romantic Poets’ collection of poetry is one of my favorite books that I have ever purchased. Several years ago now, my sister and I went on a road trip from Las Vegas to Oregon, enjoying the California coast along the way. We stopped in Solvang and visited The Book Loft, where I saw this beautifully bound book of some of my favorite poetry. I have loved the romantic poets since college, so when I saw this book, bound in purple, with roses on the cover, I knew I had to buy it.
This book contains poetry from William Blake, William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe Shelley, John Keats, and George Gordon, Lord Byron. While my personal favorite poets of this collection are Wordsworth and Keats, I find comfort and joy in all of the poetry in this book. I love spending a few hours flipping through the pages, and slipping into the minds of these men who helped to shape my love of poetry. In fact, I only truly began writing poetry after starting college, and being introduced to these poets.
I am so thrilled that, on a chance encounter in a bookshop, I found a book that I will carry with me for the rest of my days. In times of sadness as well as joy, this book always has something to share with me.
